What’s covered by the GDL(Graduate Diploma in Law) law conversion course?

Most GDL’s offer basic foundations in the 7 pillars of modern law study.

Students are expected to pass exams in all of the 7 main law areas to pass the course. The exams are usually 3 hour written tests. The course is a year long (2 years for distance/part-time) but a student can take up to 3 years to complete it, while distance and part-time students have up to 4 years to complete it. Each institution sets their own GDL.

Anyone interested in Law might want to consider doing a CPE which stands for Common Professional Examination which in turn is commonly know a Law Conversion course. Its not the simple of course this only applies to people who have a unrelated non law degree and is offered as a post graduate course the whole point of the Law Conversion Course is to let people who have finished college or university and want to do an intensive course in law. The course can run between three to four years and is run by the your typical law degree. It is an intensive course covering the same content as a typical law degree and is run controlled and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

On completion of the Law Conversion Course the student is awarded a GDL which stands for Graduate Diploma in Law in other guise’s its also known as the PgDL or LL.Dip. If the student is successful he or she can proceed to do a LPC or BTPC first one is for Lawyers and stand s for Legal Practice Course and the second one stands for Bar Professional Training Course and is of course meant for Barristers.
Most Law Conversion Courses are run by private entities and University the largest of these is obvious the College of Law also know as the College of Law of England and Wales .
